About ohmTown.com

ohmTown.com just moved to its new home. Pardon the mess. We’ll fill in the blanks in a couple of days. Basically, ohmTown.com is a new site dedicated to reviewing iPhone and AppStore applications from two points of view. One perspective is based on 25 years of experience in software, business, and technology of all kinds. The other perspective is that of a technology neophyte compared to the Mayor of ohmTown and much more practical in terms of expectations. We’ll post our perspectives here, and our readers can vote for who is more accurate.

The Mayor of ohmTown is Ohmer Watts, having started computing back when he was 11 using a combination of TRS-80′s, Apple II’s, Kaypro 90′s, and Commodore 64′s; not to mention things like 110 baud acoustic couple modems with rotary dial phones, Ohmer has had a long time to deal with technology both historically, and with cutting edge technologies hitting desktops today. Ohmer tears things open to see what makes them tick, and puts them together more efficiently… that is why there are usually extra screws left over. Totally unnecessary parts. Ohmer will more than likely be giving out the perspective of an early adopter who wants to get his hands on the latest and greatest thing.

The First Lady of ohmTown is Ohm Watts, a professional with practical uses for technology. With a very light history of using technology, only being on broadband after meeting Ohmer and moving to ohmTown a little over 11 years ago. Ohm doesn’t go out of her way to seek out technology, certainly doesn’t rummage around inside the devices she purchases, and doesn’t necessarily encourage Ohmer to run around tearing everything open to see how it works. Suffice it to say that she is grounded in reality to a greater degree, is practical, and will be giving the point of view of the typical consumer.

As readers of the site, we encourage you to vote for who is more on target, and we’ll periodically ask those who comment to write reviews themselves for incorporation into ohmTown. Afterall, we’re one big community.
