HODINKEE is a watch publication, but we've covered cars since the very beginning. And no wonder: Motorsport is inextricably linked to horology. We don't fly off to Goodwood or Pebble because we secretly want to be a website dedicated to classic cars; we do it because automobiles are very much a part of our world, with a huge amount of overlap in audiences who love everything mechanical.

Around this time of year, while the roads are slushy and the really fun cars are put away for winter, we start pining for driving season to return in the spring. So, to tide all us petrolheads over, we're using our second-ever Weekend Edition to explore the ways two of our favorite hobbies intersect. Welcome to a celebration of beautiful watches and fast cars.

Read on to find some of our favorite archival stories on the topic, and remember that the connection isn't always as obvious as using watches to time motorsport-related events. Sometimes there's a style and design angle, with the beauty of watches showcased alongside classic automobiles. Such is the case at Villa D'este, sponsored by A. Lange & Söhne, where the winner is even presented with a special edition Lange 1 Time Zone.

Then there's the phenomenon of the watch industry powering F1 motorsport. Every team has a major watch sponsor, and it's been that way since the late '50s. Have a look at James Stacey's dispatch from the Monaco
